WELCOME
TO THE
NURSE’S NOTES
LIBERTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
2008-2009
Welcome to the Nurse’s Notes page. My name is Sarah
Beyersdorf and I am the School Nurse for the Liberty
School District. This is currently my sixth year with
the District.
What does a School Nurse do? The main role of
the School Nurse is to insure that our students remain
physically safe and healthy at school. For those
students who have health concerns which require medical
care or medications at school, the School Nurse works
with parents, students, and school staff to provide the
medical care necessary for each student to attend school
and continue to learn without interruption.
The School Nurse wears many hats and does many jobs in any
given school day. They include: first aid and
assessment for injuries and illnesses; reviewing student
and staff immunizations; working with students, families
and healthcare providers to direct medical care for
students at school; educating school staff on caring
for medical emergencies, injuries, students with health
needs and their own personal health; teaching
HIV/AIDS/STD prevention, personal hygiene, basic first
aid, disease prevention and wellness education.
I
received my B.S. in Nursing from Washington State
University and live with my husband, Steve of 32 years.
We are empty nesters with both of our children now
graduated from college. I also currently manage our
family farm just north of Spangle.
