PART-TIME POSITION OPENING
SITE COORDINATOR
21st
CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING GRANT
POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
Liberty School District
is looking to hire a site coordinator to implement and
oversee a newly acquired 21st Century
Community Learning Center Grant. Site coordinators
create meaningful relationships with at-risk students,
their families and the schools that support them. In
coordination with Educational Service District (ESD)
101, Communities in Schools (CIS) and the Liberty School
District, the Site Coordinator is responsible for
coordinating an after-school program for grades 5 - 8
consisting of academic and enrichment activities with a
focus on improving math skills. In addition, he/she
will collaborate with youth, parents/guardians, school
staff and community partners for continued program
development. Hours will be approximately 2:00 pm to 6:00
pm Monday – Thursday throughout the school year. An
average of 20 hours per week will need to be worked
which includes prep time, direct student assistance and
supervision, and occasional meetings and training
sessions. Summer programming may also be possible in
future years.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Manage, coordinate
and ensure all aspects of after-school program
support and align with goals and objectives of the
project in collaboration with teachers, counselors
and administrators, as well as district policies and
procedures
-
Coordinate
development and implementation of approved youth
development and learning activities for
participating youth and their families
-
Establish and
maintain relationships with students,
parents/guardians, school staff and community
agencies and volunteers
-
Recruit students from
identified target population in coordination with
school staff and families to participate in this
after-school program
-
Assist with and
provide accurate data collection including surveys,
student information and reports in a timely manner
-
Communicate updates
of program activities and outcomes with students,
parents/guardians, school staff and community via
school website, newsletters, and other appropriate
mediums
-
Serve as point of
contact for after-school program and maintain
regular communication with ESD 101 Project
Coordinator and CIS Director
-
Attend
project-related meetings including advisory
meetings, appropriate school meetings, and
professional development opportunities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in
education, recreation, human services or closely
related field of study; or a minimum of three (3)
years experience in a similar position
-
Understanding of and
experience working with education, recreation and
human service systems
-
Experience working
with local community organizations, agencies and
volunteer programs
-
Knowledge of
community dynamics and resources
-
Demonstrated ability
to interact positively and in a professional manner
with students, parents, staff and community members
-
Experience in program
development, implementation, and/or evaluation
-
Ability to relate
positively to youth and adults of varying
socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds,
different learning styles and special needs
-
Demonstrated
knowledge of culturally responsive programs and
activities
-
Demonstrated ability
to communicate effectively and clearly in both
written and oral form
-
Experience with
computers and software such as Windows, Microsoft
Office, and/or publishing programs.

First Aid/CPR
certification
-
Be able to clear
WSP/FBI Criminal Background Check
TERMS
OF EMPLOYMENT:
A prorated contract
stipend of $11,404.00 is being offered for the remainder
of the 2008-09 school year (November – June). In future
years the contract stipend will be $15,000 provided the
grant continues at current funding levels. This
contract is strictly tied to the 21st Century
Grant and will be renewed on a year to year basis as
long as the grant is in effect (2 – 5 years) and
satisfactory evaluations are received. This position
will terminate at the end of the grant period.

SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL NURSE
SUMMARY: A
substitute School Nurse is needed on the occasional
basis when the regular School Nurse is absent. For the
most part, days needed will be known in advance. As a
substitute nurse this person would be responsible for monitoring diabetic students, giving
daily medications, and doing first aid. Hours are
9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Pay is $100.00 per day.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a LPN or RN
with current license for the State of Washington

Enjoy working with
students ages 5 - 18

Experience or
familiarity with handling of prescription
medications

Experience or
familiarity with diabetic blood sugar testing and
insulin administration

pool for the 2008-2009 SY. Our daily rate for substitute
teaching is $90.00 per day for the first 30 days
(nonconsecutive) and $100.00 per day after that.
